We are excited to collaborate with Angus Miller of Geowalks for the first time this year!

Angus has a passion for geology and has been offering guided explorations since 1998. Wherever you are in Scotland, you have some of the world's most amazing geology under your feet. You are surrounded by an incredible geological story that stretches back through billions of years of deep time. Join geologist Angus Miller on a time-travelling Geowalk adventure on the Isle of Rum.

Every day you will have a choice of guided runs with Katrin and her team or geology themed walks with Angus. There is also the option to run some of the day and join the walkers at an agreed point if people would like this. This offers a great level of flexibility and means that every level of running is welcome as there are plenty of options to fit all abilities.

FAQs

1. What accommodation is provided?

Most of the accommodation is dormitory, so you would be sharing with other participants. We have a limited number of rooms that are available for single occupancy (additional cost). Please contact us for further details.

2. Can I have a room to myself?

Yes - although this will incur a single occupancy charge. Please contact us for further details. (see above - #1)

3. Do you provide towels?

Towels can be provided at an additional cost. Let us know in advance or upon arrival if you would like one.

4. Do you cater for vegans / vegetarians?

All food will be vegetarian and can be vegan on request. We cater for all diets, allergies etc. Please just let us know in advance of any specific dietary requirements.

5. I have never done trail running before, only road running. Is this event suitable for me?

You should be able to run a road 10K comfortably. We cater for all running abilities and will make sure that you are paired up with a running guide at all times. Trail running shoes are essential. The retreat is suitable for trail running beginners and more advanced runners. There will also be daily walks on offer, so you have a lot of choice every day.

6. I have never run more than a 10K before  - does that matter?

Absolutely not - we cater for all running abilities and will make sure that you are paired up with a running guide at all times. In the past participants have often surprised themselves how far they have managed to run in a day. We give plenty of options to shorten or elongate runs. And there is always the option to switch to walking if you have had enough.

7. I am not a runner at all - can I still attend?

Yes! This event is aimed at both runners and hikers. There are also plenty of other activities that you can do on the island - for example swimming and wild life watching.

9. I am a really slow runner - would this weekend be suitable for me?

There is no such thing as a slow runner. You should be able to run a road 10K comfortably - and it doesn’t matter how long that takes you. We cater for all running abilities and will make sure that you are paired up with a running guide at all times.

10. Is the holiday for women and men?

Yes! While we offer mostly women only retreats, we are excited to offer this holiday to both women and men.
